When we all get up and search for our baskets and see what other goodies the Easter bunny left for us, we can reflect on what is more than likely going to be one of the most historic weeks in the history of pro-wrestling.

Tonight, Sunday April 16th sees the first pay per view of the Bischoff/Russo era. Nitro was a nice effort and we’ll see how the ppv goes. But time will tell if it all translates to the all important ratings and PPV buy rates.  I just hope that the higher ups in Time Warner give Bischoff and Russo the chance to get their vision out there. Now, granted I may not be a fan of them or what they do- but I am all for giving someone a fair chance to get themselves going.

Also, this week, the WWF is in the Northeast. Hell, on Tuesday, they’re taping Smackdown in Philadelphia some 5 minutes from the ECW Arena at the First Union Center. The WWF in Philadelphia is always a great time, but this time seems to have a certain edge or expectations to it. The events of the past week have certainly changed “plans, if you will” for this week.

This past Thursday night, while we were watching Smackdown or the Stanley Cup Playoffs, there was history being made in Indianapolis. There was a match between an employee of WCW and an employee of the WWF. That in itself is incredible. The added part of this is that the ECW World Heavyweight Title was on the line. Tazz came back to ECW, for how long or what is going to happen is anyone’s guess. Will Tazz have the title belt on him at Monday Night Raw and/or Smackdown? Will he defend the titles on those shows? What happens if he loses it? Will someone show up from ECW on Raw or Smackdown to challenge Taz? What happens if they beat Tazz? There are a lot of questions to be answered.

Also this week is the first annual Gary Albright show. Gary’s death was a tragic one. What’s taking place in Allentown is going to be outstanding. Many of the federations stars will be represented, if you are in the area for this big week, be a part of this. Visit the official site- www.garyalbright.com for information.

Then we have staring us in the face- this weekend. Perched up majestically like a Krispy Kreme donut on Homer Simpson’s table- its CyberSlam 2000. These events are always legendary, but this time out there is more of an air of importance to it than ever before.  In addition to the live wrestling events, there is a session on Saturday afternoon in which the fans can ask questions of the stars of ECW. There is no other major wrestling organization that holds anything like that. So, that makes it unique in its own right. Then from there considering the events from this past week, it’s going to make CyberSlam all the more interesting.

Some how lost in the wackiness of the past week is that the annual ECWNews.com fan awards are going to be presented to as many of the stars that attend the event as possible. These results are not “a work”; they’re a shoot as they say. The readers of ECWNews.com voted these on and it’s our way to salute the best of the best in ECW annual as voted by the fans with all of the fans there. That is going to be a lot of fun.

The ECW Arena show, CyberSlam, is always a great event. All of the past ones have been looked as the greatest shows ever. This year out though there is a tinge of uncertainty. Anything can happen anytime, anywhere right now in ECW. So whether it’s the Stabler Arena on Friday night, the q/a session at the Legends Sports Bar at the Holiday Inn on Saturday afternoon or CyberSlam at the ECW Arena, you really should be a part of this. At this late date, you can still get tickets for the Stabler Arena, for the q/a session and for the ECW Arena. Email to [email protected] for more information.

I wonder what we will be talking about next week?
